Arada awards infrastructure works contract at Aljada megaproject in UAE
October 08, 2020 – UAE-based property development firm Arada has awarded a contract worth AED102m ($27.8m) to Al Marwan General Contracting Company at Aljada, the AED24bn ($6.5bn) mixed-use community project in New Sharjah, UAE.
The new contract is for the construction of the second phase infrastructure works to support several communities within the Aljada megaproject.
Under the contract, Al Marwan General Contracting Company will be responsible for all the infrastructure works that include the construction of electric facilities, water and communications networks.
The scope of the contract also includes landscape and road construction, for the East Village, the student housing community Nest, the SABIS International School -Aljada, and the fourth phase of Aljada.
The fourth phase of the megaproject is expected to be launched for sales later this year.
Construction on the contract will commence immediately and is expected to be completed in September 2021.
Arada chairman HE Sheikh Sultan bin Ahmed Al Qasimi said: “We are continuing to focus heavily on our construction efforts in the second half of this year; in 2020 as a whole, we expect to award contracts worth more than AED1 billion in value.
“This infrastructure deal forms a critical part of our plan to bring a number of communities within Aljada to life, and we look forward to working with Al Marwan General Contracting Company to deliver an exceptional experience for residents and visitors alike.”
The Aljada megaproject, which is situated in the Muwaileh district in the heart of New Sharjah, is a 24 million ft² master-planned destination.
The project comprises extensive residential districts, a premium business park, four hotels, three K-12 schools, a hospital, extensive retail and F&B options.
