Astaldi wins construction contracts worth €1bn in Turkey


April 14, 2017 – Italian construction firm Astaldi, via joint ventures (JV), has secured two contracts valued at more than €1bn in Turkey.

The firm won an engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) contract worth €627M for civil works and the electromechanical systems of the Kirazli-Halkal section of the Istanbul Underground. The scope of the work includes the construction of 10km of double-tube tunnel, nine stations with annexed car parks and a depot area.

The project will be delivered by a joint venture of Astaldi Group, and Turkish firms Makyol, Ictas, and Kalyon for the Municipality of Istanbul. Construction work is expected to commence soon and be completed in approximately two and a half years.

A build-operate-transfer project valued at €392M for nearly 80km of the Menemen-Aliaga-Candarli motorway in the province of Izmir was awarded to the Astaldi, IC Ictas and Kaylon JV. Of the total project cost, €333M has been earmarked for construction activities.

The scope of work includes 14 junctions, 11 bridges, 10 viaducts, seven motorway toll booths and three service areas, as well as operation and maintenance (O&M) work.

The duration of the concession is around 10 years, with 36 months for construction and the remaining period for operation. The customer is KGM, the General Directorate of Motorways of Turkey’s Ministry of Transport.
