Astaldi wins contracts worth €110m in Italy
03, march 2018 – Astaldi has been awarded two construction contracts in Italy, together valued at €110m.
Under the first contract from RFI (Ferrovie dello Stato Italiane Group), valued at €67m, Astaldi will be required to complete the Colombo, San Tommaso and Polcevera tunnels as part of the programme to strengthen the Genoa railway node.
The contract involves completion of the excavation and lining of the Colombo and San Tommaso tunnels in an urban setting (Lot 1), and carrying out the works to lengthen the Voltri connector in the city’s western area (Polcevera tunnel, Lot 2), for a total of 5.5km of new railway line, mostly underground.
The Lot 1 works will make it possible to construct two new tracks dedicated to the metropolitan-regional traffic between the two main city stations of Brignole and Piazza Principe.
Lot 2 works are functional to the achievement of independence between long-haul passenger traffic and cargo/regional-metropolitan traffic in the Genoa railway node.
The planned duration of the works is 27 months.
The second contract, valued at €40m, is from Kuwait Raffinazione e Chimica for executing the Lot 2 recovery works for the former Kuwait Petroleum Italia refinery in Naples.
Astaldi will have a 50% share in the contract and it will execute the work in joint venture with Arcadis Italia.
The contract involves environmental recovery of 18 hectares of the city and the work is a prerequisite for the area’s future urban development.
The duration of the contract is three years.
Also, the CIPE (Italian government’s Inter-ministerial Economic Programming Committee) has approved the final design for the second section of Mega-lot 3 of the national road SS-106 ‘Jonica’, also in Italy.
The approval creates the conditions for developing the construction design of the Mega-lot 3 (first and second functional tranches) and for initiating the activities to carry out the works.
Astaldi will carry out the works in a joint venture with Salini Impregilo.
