Concord Medical breaks ground on new $303m cancer hospital in China
September 26, 2017 – Concord Medical Services Holdings, a China-based specialty hospital management solution provider, has broken ground on its RMB2bn ($303m) cancer hospital in Shanghai, China.
Located in Shanghai New Hongqiao International Medical Center, Shanghai Concord Cancer Hospital is a “Level III” specialty cancer hospital project financed by Concord Medical.
The hospital, with a total construction area of nearly 160,000 sq m, will feature 400 beds and large-scale medical equipment, including proton therapy equipment.
Concord Medical chairman and CEO Jianyu Yang said: “I am pleased to see that, after years of efforts, Shanghai Concord Cancer hospital has started construction. The commencement of this project is an important milestone in the overall strategic development of Concord Medical.
“The hospital will rely on the University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center’s management and technical advantages, and strives to be Asia’s most advanced cancer hospital. We will make every effort to ensure that the project is completed on time, with emphasis on quality and safety.
“I believe that the completion of the Shanghai Concord Cancer Hospital will not only promote the development of cancer therapy in China, but will also help Chinese cancer patients in their recovery.”
