Encompass Health unveils plans for new hospital in Lakeland, Florida
July 23, 2020 – Encompass Health, a US-based provider of integrated healthcare services, has unveiled plans to construct a new 50-bed inpatient rehabilitation hospital in Lakeland, Florida.
Known as Encompass Health Rehabilitation Hospital of Lakeland, the healthcare facility will include all private patient rooms, a spacious therapy gym with latest rehabilitation technologies and a living suite for daily activities, dining room, cafeteria, pharmacy and therapy courtyard.
The building will provide services for patients recovering from debilitating illnesses and injuries such as strokes and other neurological disorders, brain injuries, spinal cord injuries, amputations and severe orthopaedic conditions.
Encompass Health president for southeast region Linda Wilder said: “The hospital we will build in Lakeland is a freestanding, state-of-the-art physical plant.
“The design is specific to caring for rehabilitation patients and is based on our experience operating 12 hospitals in Florida and 136 hospitals throughout the nation.”
Encompass Health Rehabilitation Hospital of Lakeland will offer physical, occupational and speech therapies, which aim to bring back functional ability and 24-hour care by registered nurses.
The hospital will house medical staff of physicians, who have experience in physical medicine, rehabilitation and other specialities.
Wilder further added: “Additionally our staff is dedicated to, trained and singularly focused on the speciality practice of physical rehabilitation, which will make the services we bring a high-quality complement to the existing strong healthcare services in the area.”
Upon completion, the proposed hospital will be part of Encompass Health’s network of inpatient rehabilitation hospitals and home health and hospice agencies.
Currently, the company’s Florida footprint includes 12 inpatient rehabilitation hospitals, a hospital under construction in north Tampa and 19 home healthcare buildings.
