Enel begins construction on $435M US wind farm
May 13, 2017- Enel Green Power North America (EGPNA), a subsidiary of Enel, has commenced construction on the $435M Thunder Ranch wind farm in Oklahoma, US. The Thunder Ranch wind farm, to be located in the Garfield, Kay and Noble Counties, will have an installed capacity of 298MW.
The project, which is owned by Thunder Ranch Wind Project, a subsidiary of EGPNA, is part of the investment outlined in Enel’s current strategic plan, and will be financed through the Enel Group’s own resources.
Once fully operational, the wind farm will have a capacity to generate more than 1,100GWh annually — the equivalent to the energy consumption needs of more than 89,400 US households. It will also avoid the emission of about 790,000 tonnes of CO2 each year.
Expected to commence operations by the end of 2017, the wind farm will be supported by long-term agreements for the sale of power and renewable energy credits.
