FLSmidth wins €250m contracts for two cement plants in Central America
August 07, 2018 – Denmark-basedengineering company FLSmidth has won two contracts for a greenfield cement plant valued at more than €100m and a brownfield cement plant also valued at more than €100m – in Central America.
Both contracts are together worth more than €250m and include design and engineering, equipment supply, automation systems, training as well as advisory services for installation and commissioning.
The two plants, which will mainly supply cement to their local markets, are expected to become operational within 24 to 36 months and will have a capacity of 2,000 and 3,500 tonnes per day, respectively.

Earlier in 2018, FLSmidth had signed an agreement with ATP Real Estate as the investor and landlord to build a new campus in Copenhagen that will accommodate more than 1,000 employees.
FLSmidth’s head office at Vigerslev Allé in Copenhagen’s Valby district has become outdated and the agreement between FLSmidth and ATP Real Estate is the first step towards the construction of a new, modern campus on the site.
The work involves complete renovation of the historic buildings facing Vigerslev Allé worthy of preservation combined with the addition of new office facilities.
The rest of the existing buildings will be demolished, making room for new residential housing at the southern end of the FLSmidth site.
The project, which will be subject to a new local plan, will be developed and managed by ATP Real Estate. Construction is expected to commence in 2019-2020.
