HLG to deliver raft foundation for Uptown Dubai’s tower
January 21, 2018 Dubai-based contractor HLG has been selected by Dubai Multi Commodities Centre (DMCC) to build the concrete raft foundation for one of Uptown Dubai’s two super-tall towers.
HLG has been shortlisted amongst eight bidders, DMCC said in a release.
HLG will deliver the project by June 2018 for which the company will require 12,000m3 of concrete and 1,500 tonnes of reinforcement steel to complete the foundation raft.
Shoring and piling works have already begun for the 10 million ft2 development of Uptown Dubai’s first super tall tower, Grade A commercial and luxury residential space.
The tower will comprise luxury hotel rooms and suites, high-end restaurants, health spas, extensive conference facilities, and 240 uniquely designed branded residences set for sale in early 2018.
The two super-tall towers of Uptown Dubai are designed by architects Adrian Smith & Gordon Gill from Chicago.
DMCC, a Free Zone for trade and enterprise, master developer of Jumeirah Lakes Towers (JLT), commenced construction of Uptown Dubai, a premium mixed-use destination with seven towers atop seven levels of podium, in September 2017.
The main podium, 28m above ground, consists of a two-level central plaza, which will be larger than New York Times Square, circled by outlets and connected to a retail mall below. All these have direct access to the towers.
DMCC executive director – property Paul Ashton said: “DMCC’s Uptown Dubai development is well underway as planned with piling, shoring and now raft foundation construction by HLG commencing in March.
“The HLG collaboration will literally provide the foundation for what will take Uptown Dubai’s first landmark super-tall tower to new heights ready for occupancy by Expo2020.”
