Interxion to build new data centres in Frankfurt and Marseille


August 03, 2017 – Interxion, a European provider of carrier and cloud-neutral co-location data centre services, has unveiled plans to construct data centres in Frankfurt (FRA13) in Germany and Marseille (MRS2) in France.

The company also plans to expand in Vienna, Austria, amid demand-driven growth supported by global cloud platform expansions in Europe.

FRA13, which will entail an investment of nearly €90m, will be built in two phases. The facility will offer 4,800 sq m of equipped space and 10MW of customer-available power when fully built.

The first phase of FRA13, which is expected to provide about 2,300 sq m, is planned to open in the fourth quarter of 2018. The second phase is expected to provide approximately 2,500 sq m of space and is scheduled to open during the first quarter of 2019.

Estimated to cost €76m, the project will provide a total of 4,300 sq m of equipped space and over 7MW of customer available power upon completion.

The first phase will add provide 900 sq m of space and is slated to open in the first quarter of 2018. The second phase will create about 1,800 sq m and is scheduled to open in the third quarter of 2018.

Meanwhile, Interxion’s Vienna carrier- and cloud-neutral data center (VIE2) will involve the construction of two phases (VIE2.7 and VIE2.8) together with upgraded power.

Once completed, the phases will provide almost 2,300 sq m and approximately 6MW of customer power to VIE2. The capital expenditure associated with this further expansion of VIE2 is expected to be about €45m.
