ISG completes work on University of the West of England’s £55m project
May 18, 2017 – UK-based construction services firm ISG has completed work on a £55m project at the University of the West of England (UWE Bristol) – creating a new home for the Faculty of Business and Law.
The project represents the centre-piece of the university’s £300m capital investment programme.
Covering an area of 185,000 sq ft building, the seven-storey building includes large areas of collaborative space.
The new building features two showcase law courts, a city trading room, a 300-seat tiered double-height lecture theatre, two Harvard lecture theatres and an incubator for the university’s Team Entrepreneur course.
The building also incorporates technology enhanced and flexible learning spaces, IT suites, meeting facilities and parking for business, an external business engagement space, a central social space and café.
ISG delivered the project in compliance with Building Information Modelling (BIM) Level 2 standard.
ISG’s Western regional managing director Rob Martin said: “The new Bristol Business School has already achieved landmark building status and exemplifies how UWE do things differently – with collaboration and inclusion two of the overriding design principles of the project.
“Feedback from staff and students using the new building has been excellent and this is a great showcase for ISG in our portfolio of progressive and innovative facilities for our forward thinking education client base.”
