JV wins £70M sewage upgrade work in Lancashire
April 14, 2017 – A joint venture (JV) between CH2M and VolkerStevin has won a contract to undertake major improvements on the wastewater treatment system and facilities within the Morecambe Bay catchment in the UK.
The C2V+ JV will construct two new stormwater storage tanks at Schola Green Pumping Station, install a new pumped pipeline between Schola Green and Morecambe (Middleton), replace and full upgrade the treatment process using the Nereda technology and upsize the land-section of the existing outfall pipeline from Morecambe (Middleton).
Besides boosting flow capacity to support future development and growth, the improvements will reduce the number of storm water spills per bathing season from Schola Green.
C2V+ board member, Richard Towse, said: “We are delighted to be awarded this vital project. Using our skilled teams, we will deliver these improvements in close consultation with the local community and will use innovative techniques to minimise inconvenience and deliver high quality wastewater treatment.”
The £70M project will be delivered through United Utilities’ AMP6 CDP framework and is expected to be complete in 2020.
