KBJ to construct LNG export terminal in Oregon

July 11, 2017 – KBJ, a joint venture (JV) of Kiewit Energy Group, Black & Veatch Construction, and JGC US Projects, has won an engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) contract from Jordan Cove LNG to engineer and construct an LNG export terminal in Coos Bay, Oregon.

The project will leverage Black & Veatch’s proven PRICO technology, while JGC will work closely with Black & Veatch to execute the engineering, procurement and module fabrication for the project. Kiewit, a direct hire union construction contractor, will oversee construction of the facility.

Situated on a 400-acre, green-field industrial site on the North Spit of lower Coos Bay, the proposed Jordan Cove LNG terminal will be the first and most advanced LNG export terminal project on the west coast of North America.

The Jordan Cove LNG terminal is likely to produce a maximum of 7.8 million tonnes per annum for export, with a majority of the LNG being exported to Pacific Rim countries, including Japan.

The LNG terminal comprises about 320,000 cubic metres of storage capacity and deep-water marine facilities. The final investment decision is expected to be taken in 2019, with an expected in-service date of 2024.

KBJ project executive Tom Shelby said: “The Jordan Cove LNG export terminal reflects extensive, detailed engineering design, planning and innovation. We commend the Jordan Cove team on their steadfast commitment to this project and are honoured to serve as the EPC contractor.”
