Kier to build new £70m private hospital in Manchester

July 09, 2017 – UK-based construction services firm Kier Group has been appointed by Nuffield Health to build a £70m private hospital at a former Manchester Metropolitan University campus in Manchester, UK.

Upon completion, the three-storey building will have healthcare facilities covering an area of more than 90,000 sq ft.

The hospital will feature five operation theatres, an imaging and diagnostic suite, 50 patient rooms and 30 consultation rooms.

Construction on the project is expected to commence later this year with completion is scheduled in spring 2019.

Kier Construction Northern managing director John O’Callaghan said: “We’re extremely pleased to have been awarded this opportunity to provide a state-of-the-art hospital in Manchester and are looking forward to developing the strong working relationship we have built with Nuffield Health in the pre-construction phase of the project.

“Kier has built over £2bn of healthcare facilities in the past 12 years and we’ll be using our experience and expertise in this sector to ensure we deliver a world class facility for patients.”

The latest contract adds to Kier’s presence in Manchester. The company inaugurated its new national Finance Shared Service Centre in the city earlier this year.

Additionally, Kier is redeveloping Oddfellows House in Manchester’s prime central district, which will be known as Eleven York Street and deliver 80,000 sq ft of Grade A new build office space in the city.
