Mar 29, 2017 – Laing O’Rourke has been chosen to redevelop the former Royal Mail sorting office in London.

The Post Building project, designed by AHMM for joint venture developers Oxford Properties and Brockton Capital, will lead to the creation of 29,730 sq m of mixed-use space.

The building, located on a prominent island block bordered by New Oxford Street, High Holborn and Museum Street in the West End of London, will feature nearly 25,000 sq m of office space.

The office space will comprise private roof terraces to every floor, and a 697 sq m rooftop garden with 360-degree views. The lower ground floor level of the building will feature 470 cycle spaces, as well as lockers, showers and bike workshop facilities.

The project will also include specialty retailers, a doctor’s surgery, public roof space and cafe, and 21 apartments.

Liam Cummins, Laing O’Rourke head of UK construction, said: “We are proud to be working with both Oxford Properties and Brockton Capital on what we think will become an iconic London building. Work has already begun on site and we are looking forward to bringing the client’s vision to fruition.”

The demolition phase has been concluded and construction work has begun. The project is expected to be wrapped up in 2018.
