L&T Construction secures contracts worth $299m
January 03, 2019 – L&T Construction, a subsidiary of Indian construction company Larsen & Toubro (L&T), has won orders worth INR20.84bn ($299m).
The Power Transmission and Distribution Business of L&T Construction has secured EPC orders worth INR20.84bn ($299m).
On the international front, the business has won a major order in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia for the construction of 115kV Substations and associated transmission lines and cable circuits.
The company has secured another order for 132kV cable works for a Substation in Dubai, UAE.
It has won EHV Substation orders from customers in Oman and Qatar. An order for a 275kV Substation order has been secured in the Sarawak state of Malaysia.
On the domestic front, the Power Transmission and Distribution Business has secured EPC orders to build 235MW of Solar Photovoltaic power projects in Tamil Nadu and Rajasthan.
A one-of-its-kind Solar photovoltaic plan, floating on a reservoir, will be implemented in Chittoor district of Andhra Pradesh, as part of Tirupati Smart City mission.
The business unit has won another order for a Rural Electricity Infrastructure Development project under the DDUGJY scheme in West Bengal.
Previously, L&T’s water and effluent treatment and transportation infrastructure business has been awarded an INR12.81bn ($183.35m) contract by Andhra Pradesh Capital Region Development Authority (AP CRDA).
Under the terms of the design and build contract, the firm will be responsible for investigation, design and construction of roads, bridges, stormwater drains, culverts, water supply systems, sewerage systems, STP, utility ducts for power and ICT.
Additionally, L&T will reuse waterlines and carry out avenue plantation, compatible with trunk infrastructure in layouts for land pooling schemes for the villages of Kurugalla, Nidamarru in Zone 12A area at Amravati Capital City, Andhra Pradesh.
Separately, the water and effluent treatment business has been awarded a contract worth INR10.76bn ($154.01m) by the Madhya Pradesh Jal Nigam Maryadit (MPJNM).
The scope of the contract includes the execution of multi-village rural water supply schemes in Jabalpur, Narsinghpur, Seoni and Damoh districts of Madhya Pradesh.
Besides designing, engineering, supplying and erecting of raw and clear water transmission and distribution pipelines, building of intake wells, the firm will be responsible for the design and construction of water treatment plants, pumping stations and other water retaining structures with associated electromechanical and instrumentation works, including house service connections.
The project also involves automation, including measurement of input and output water quantity and quality at each level through SCADA, and other instrumentation works which will help in maintaining unwanted-for-water (UFW) within desired levels.
