L&T Construction wins $817M contract in Qatar
April 13, 2017 – Larsen & Toubro (L&T) Construction power transmission and distribution unit has bagged an $817M contract from Qatar General Electricity & Water (KAHRAMAA) for phase XIII of the ongoing Qatar Electricity Transmission Network Expansion Plan.
The scope of the work will include engineering, procurement and construction of 30 new gas-insulated substations of varying voltage levels of 220kV, 132kV and 66kV, as well as nearly 560km of 132kV and 66kV underground cables.
KAHRAMAA is expanding the existing power transmission network to meet the ever-increasing demand for power due to the developmental works in the State of Qatar.

The project is expected to be complete within 15 to 32 months. The contract is L&T’s largest single order in the Middle East.
