Macro JV bags $298m contract for Trans Mountain expansion project in Canada
October 10, 2017 – An equal stake joint venture of Macro Enterprises and Spiecapag Canada has won a CAD375m ($298m) contract from Trans Mountain Pipeline for pipeline construction work on the Trans Mountain Expansion Project.
Trans Mountain Expansion Project is a CAD7.4bn ($5.8bn) construction project, which comprises development of 1,150km pipeline route, including 980km of new pipeline and reactivation of 193km of existing pipeline, parallel to the existing Trans Mountain Pipeline. Upon completion, the pipeline capacity will increase from 300,000 to 890,000 barrels of oil per day.
The latest contract includes the construction of about 85km of 36-inch pipeline along the Coquihalla-Hope corridor in British Columbia referred to as pipeline “Spread 5B”.
The contract is likely to be completed by November 2019, with field construction to start once the regulatory requirements for construction of the project have been satisfied.
