Metron lands Sydney Metro contract

May 05, 2017 – Metron, a consortium led by Arcadis and Mott MacDonald, has won the underground station design and technical services (USDTS) contract for the second phase of Sydney Metro Project.

The Sydney Metro Project, which includes 31 stations and 66km of new metro rail, is the largest public transport project in Australia, according to Arcadis.

The second phase of the project involves a 30km extension of the metro underneath Sydney harbour and through new stations within the central business district (CBD) [pictured].

Metron’s scope of work includes engineering design of six underground stations.

Greg Steele, Arcadis Australia Pacific chief executive, said: “Sydney Metro will be one of the most transformational projects in NSW since the Sydney Harbour Bridge and we are very excited to bring our combination of global experience and Australian depth of knowledge to the project.”

Mott MacDonald Australia & New Zealand built environment sector leader, Stephen Giblett, said: “The Sydney Metro will truly transform this great city and the underground station design services role METRON will perform is critical to this.”

The Metron consortium also includes Foster + Partners, Architectus, and Robert Bird Group.
