Multiplex tops out Jewel mixed-use scheme in Australia

August 21, 2018 – Contractor Multiplex has achieved a construction milestone with the topping out of the tallest of the three towers of Yuhu Group Australia’s Jewel mixed-use scheme in Gold Coast in the State of Queensland.

The Jewel’s 47-storey central tower is flanked by towers one and three, which are of 41 and 34 storeys respectively.

Construction began in February 2016 and the towers have a distinctive glass curtain walling system, which has been designed jointly by Florida-based architect Chad Oppenheim and DBI chairman and director of design Barry Lee.

The design concept has been drawn from three smoky quartz crystals that were discovered in the region.

The Jewel project, the first beachfront resort development on the Gold Coast in more than 30 years, includes a luxury international five-star hotel and is expected to support the local tourism industry.

During the topping out ceremony, a four-metre pandanus palm tree was lifted to the rooftop with a giant sign reading ‘Jewel touches the sky’ as backdrop. A rooftop plaque was also unveiled on the occasion.

The luxury hotel development in tower two will feature a beach-facing resort pool as well as a health and wellness centre, with a separate indoor pool, gymnasium and hair and beauty salons.

The complex will also feature a ballroom for up to 800 people to cater for major events.

The three Jewel towers will offer a wide selection of exclusive one, two, three and four-bedroom private residences, serviced by residential amenities such as a 24-hour concierge service in tower three.

Many of the residences will offer spectacular ocean front and hinterland views.

Residents, hotel guests and visitors can enjoy fine dining experiences, expansive bars and high-end retail shopping spaces within metres of the Surfers Paradise beachfront.

The Jewel, which is now undergoing an internal fit-out stage, is targeted for completion by mid-2019.
