August 03, 2018 – Spanish construction and civil engineering company OHL Group, through its subsidiary OHL USA, has secured two new projects in California and Texas for €77.8m ($94.7m).

In California, OHL won a €48m ($58m) contract for the Newhope-Placentia trunk sewer replacement project from Orange County Sanitation District (OCSD).

The OCSD provides wastewater collection, treatment and recycling services for 2.5 million people in central and northwest Orange County. It processes an average of 700 million litres of wastewater daily.

The project will increase the size of the Newhope Trunk Sewer on State College Blvd.

Under the contract, OHL will replace the existing pipeline with a larger diameter sewer pipeline. This phase of the project will replace 6km of sewer, of a total of more than 11km.

In Texas, the company won a €29.8m ($36.7m) contract from the Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT).

This project involves the widening of one-lane roadway from SH45 to US290 (14km) of SH 130. The work includes the construction of 12 bridges (117,000m² of deck), 134,000m² concrete paving, 155,000m³ of excavation and installation of ITS fibre through 24km of duct bank.

The OHL Group, which entered the US market in 2006, currently operates in the states of Florida, New York, New Jersey, Texas, California, Illinois, Connecticut, Virginia and Massachusetts and in the District of Columbia.

One of the major projects is the improvement of highway I-405 from State Route 73 to Interstate 605 in California. This is the most important contract in the history of the company in the US.

Other projects include the Canarsie Tunnel; projects in the New York Subway; construction of the innovation centre at Miami Dade College; civil work at the O’Hare International Airport in Chicago; the replacement of the sewage outlet pipe of the Bergen Point wastewater treatment plant in Babylon, the first OHL project in Long Island.
