Plans approved for £161m housing regeneration scheme in London, UK
May 21, 2020 – Brent Council’s first virtual planning committee has approved plans for Peel Place, a new £161m housing regeneration scheme at Kilburn in North West London, UK.
Peel Place, the civic quarter of the South Kilburn Masterplan Regeneration Programme, will now proceed with construction.
UK-based developer Countryside Properties and Home Group, a housing association, along with the council, will deliver 308 new tenure-blind homes.
Of the overall housing units, 41% will be for affordable housing, including social rented homes and shared ownership.
Designed by Child Graddon Lewis Architects & Designers, the project will feature a new health centre, a community hub, an affordable gym, an affordable workspace and other retail and commercial spaces.
Countryside, Home Group and Brent Council will offer green spaces and introduce tree-lined avenues and planting throughout the public space.
Situated within walking distance of the Carlton Vale area and a short walk from Queen’s Park and Kilburn Park stations, the initial phase of new homes is expected to be completed in the third quarter of 2021.
Countryside Partnerships North & South London managing director Andy Fancy said: “Gaining planning permission for the entire Peel Place scheme is testament to the meticulous work we have done together with Home Group and Brent Council to shape a vision for what’s set to become a thriving new community in the capital.
“Having delivered tenure-blind regeneration schemes across the capital for over three decades, the carefully designed homes, community facilities and public amenities will serve the needs and aspirations of local residents, ensuring we have a closely-knit neighbourhood set for the future.”
Home Group development executive director Joe Cook said: “We’re very pleased indeed to have received approval for what promises to be an excellent regeneration scheme, which will add so much to this North London community.
“Like Countryside, who we work with closely, we have a wealth of experience in delivering successful regeneration schemes in the capital. We are very much looking forward to working with Countryside, Brent Council and the South Kilburn community to deliver homes and amenities that will invigorate and re-energise the community.”
