Porr completes new corporate headquarters for Basler Leben in Switzerland
September 18, 2020 – Austrian construction firm Porr has completed construction on a new corporate headquarters for Swiss insurer Basler Leben in the city of Basel, Switzerland.
Located near Basel SBB railway station, the two new buildings are now open to users. Porr Suisse was selected by Basler Leben in 2017 to design and construct the buildings under a contract worth more than €100m.
The first building designed by Basler architects Diener & Diener. The 34m-high, cube-shaped building has a gross floor area of 12,000m².
The building includes high-end office space, meeting rooms, foyers and service facilities along with a restaurant area. It also features an art forum on the ground floor with ample underground parking space at the basement levels.
Besides housing the Baloise training centre, the adjacent second one is a ten-storey, 42m building. It has an energy centre and a car parking area.
Designed by Swiss architects Valerio Olgiati, the building has a fitness centre and a business centre along with ample service areas.
Porr CEO Karl-Heinz Strauss said: “Sustainable aspects have been brought together in perfect harmony in both buildings. The final result and the first-class certification awarded to the projects underline our clear commitment to sustainable construction.”
According to Porr, the two buildings are certified to meet the latest version of Sustainable Construction Standard Switzerland) SNBS 2.0 Buildings and it means that the buildings have received gold certification with perfect balance between the categories Society, Economy and Environment.
Earlier this month, Porr announced that it has reached the first milestone in the construction of the Franklinturm building located in Zurich, Switzerland.
Work on the excavation pit for the underground floors has been completed and 21-storey building, with 14,800 m² of office space is expected to bring better prospects for local businesses in the region.
