Skanska invests $60m in Swedish office project

Swedish construction company Skanska has invested SEK590m ($60.5m) for the construction of Hyllie Terrass, a climate-neutral office building in Malmö, Sweden.

 

The location of the new office project is in close proximity to public transportation and allows companies to operate sustainably at all levels.

 

The 12-storey office building will have a total leasable area of about 14,000m² and will be part of the Sweden Green Building Council’s pilot study on ZeroCO2 certification of buildings.

 

February 18, 2020 – The ZeroCO2 is aimed at building a project with a net-zero climate impact and have the sustainability work of the industry to continue to develop.

 

Additionally, the new office building will also be environmentally certified as per LEED and health certified according to WELL.

 

Construction on the project is scheduled to begin in the first quarter this year and is scheduled to be completed in the fourth quarter of 2022.

 

Skanska said that the construction contract, valued at approximately SEK420m ($24.6m), will be included in the Swedish order bookings for the first quarter this year.

 

The construction company has previously developed many office projects in Malmö that include Klipporna, Malmö Live, STUDIO.

 

In 2020, the office buildings – Epic and Aura – are being completed, of which Aura was recently sold to Vasakronan.

 

In a separate development, Skanska has secured a £240m contract to deliver 20 Ropemaker Street, a 25-storey commercial development project in Central London.

 

The project includes about 419,093ft² of office space, while 11,785ft² of retail space, which will be located at ground level.

 

The company will also install mechanical, electrical and plumbing engineering services at the project, which is expected to include double-height entrance and a lobby along Ropemaker Street close to Moorgate Tube Station along with a separate entrance dedicated for bicycles.

 

The project also includes three basement levels provided for retail servicing, plant, facilities management, cycle and shower facilities.
