Strabag unit secures €96M contract for Slovakia’s Nitra Industrial Park
Mar 01, 2017 – A subsidiary of Austrian construction firm Strabag has won a contract from the Slovak business settlement company MH Invest for ground levelling works at Nitra Industrial Park in Slovakia.
The €96M contract includes the levelling and conditioning of a 1,795,000 sq m section of the industrial park in preparation for the construction of a Jaguar Land Rover automotive plant. The project is being executed in line with BREEAM standards.
Currently, the ground exhibits a height difference of about 1.2m that will be levelled out through a gravel bed with a total volume of 5.5M tonnes.
Under the contract, Strabag will also perform ground stabilising works at the site. During construction, the filling layers and the noise levels will be constantly monitored.
Strabag CEO Thomas Birtel said: “After already preparing over 745,000 sq m of the industrial park last year, we look forward to continuing our work at this — for Slovakia very important —business development zone.”
Work is planned to be completed in about five months.
