U+I secures approval for £130m mixed-use project in UK
July 26, 2017 – Regeneration specialist and property developer U+I has secured a resolution to grant planning consent for Equipment Works, a £130 million mixed-use regeneration project in Walthamstow, London.
Located near the Blackhorse Lane Area Action Plan, the new project will deliver a residential-led mixed-use development including 337 new homes, 24% of which will be affordable.
U+I will deliver the project in collaboration with the landowners, Parkdale Investments.
The project will also include the development of 1,750 sq m of commercial floor-space within a landscaped environment, situated less than 150m from Blackhorse Road station.
The commercial space within the development will be offered to the start up and small business community in the local area which currently lacks access to high quality space.
U + I director of regeneration Simon Hesketh said: “We are delighted to have secured resolution to grant planning consent for the regeneration of Equipment Works at Blackhorse Road.
“There is already substantial investment in the Blackhorse Road area and this resolution will unlock the potential of the Equipment Works site providing the missing link between neighbouring proposals.
“The scheme will form the heart of a new community, acknowledging the distinct history of the site and bringing fresh vitality to the area, building on its industrial heritage. We believe this will encourage residents and businesses to look at Waltham Forest with fresh eyes.”’
