UMG seals $ 1 million deal with NEM for CEP
December 08, 2017 -United Mercury Group Lanka Ltd. recently sealed a mega deal of $ 1 million for the supply of construction machinery with NEM Constructions, the main contractor for the Central Expressway Project.
Shantui Batching Plants, KCP Concrete Pumps and Airman Compressors are the main products in this deal. NEM, which is a leading contractor, trusts UMG for its construction machinery of concrete pumps, batching plants and compressors. UMG, a conglomerate with its head office based in Myanmar, operates in eight countries – Laos, Indonesia, Cambodia, China, Singapore, Vietnam and Sri Lanka – and has over 65 branches in Myanmar.
UMG Lanka Ltd, located at No. 58 D along the Colombo-Avissawella Road, Welivita, Kaduwela, was established in 2012 and are the exclusive sole agents for the Shantui range of construction and earth-moving equipment such as Excavators, Wheel Loaders, Bulldozers and Asphalt batching plants from China and are also the appointed dealers for Airman Compressors from Japan and KCP Concrete Pumps from South Korea.
Furthermore, UMG is marketing its own Matador brand of products of excavators, road rollers, motor graders, power generators, combine harvesters and tractors.
The official handover of the first concrete pump took place very recently at UMG’s head office in Kaduwela. The ceremony was attended by Raja Nanayakkara – Chairman/Managing Director of NEM and representatives from KCP’s head office in South Korea.
NEM Chairman Nanayakkara stated: “I personally checked the performance of KCP pump cars in Colombo mega projects and the Korean origin pump were key features for the deal and it comes with Daewoo chassis.”
He added that the quality of the product was always trusted. UMG Lanka MD Asiri Walisundara stated: “It is a happy moment that a company like NEM has kept their confidence in quality products that are marketed by us. We are now serving total solutions for the construction machinery sector.”
UMG Lanka General Manager Nishantha Fernando emphasised that aftermarket support was a key factor for business growth and the company now provides 24-hour assistance throughout the country for the machines it supplies. Moreover, there was ample stock of spare parts maintained for the units in the market.
