US Wind, JDR Cables partner to build US offshore wind project
Feb 23, 2017 – US Wind has selected JDR Cable Systems to supply subsea power cables to its proposed 750MW wind project off the coast of Maryland, US.
Under the contract, JDR will be responsible for the project management, engineering and manufacture of 196km of inter-array cable, 180km of export cable and cable accessories.
JDR will also offer cable installation and testing. Cable manufacture is expected to commence in 2018 with delivery and installation expected in 2019 and 2020. Engineering work is set to commence later this year. US Wind believes that this is the start of bringing 5,000 manufacturing jobs to Maryland and generating over $16bn in net economic output over the life of its 750MW Maryland project.
