Work begins on Canadian factory for General Electric
Aug 29, 2016 – PCL Constructors Canada has been appointed to build a factory for General Electric (GE) in Welland in the Canadian province of Ontario.
The “Brilliant Factory” will be the first of its kind in Canada.
The team also CSO Architects in joint venture with B+H Architects, structural consultant Entuitive/Thornton Tomasetti and mechanical and electrical consultant HH Angus & Associates, with Lea Consulting responsible for site services.

“In collaboration with our valued partners, we look forward to delivering this first-of-its-kind facility in Canada that will couple the company’s long history of industrial innovation with cutting-edge data science and analytics expertise.”
The multi-modal facility will manufacture GE Power’s reciprocating gas engines, components for compression, mechanical drive, and power generation. Substantial completion is expected by the end of next year, with production expected to begin in spring 2018.
