CB&I wins $200m contract to build two LNG storage tanks in Louisiana
July 09, 2017 – Chicago Bridge & Iron Company (CB&I) has bagged an EPC contract worth $200m to establish two LNG storage tanks for Venture Global’s Calcasieu Pass export facility in Southwest Louisiana, US.
Under the contract, CB&I will deliver two single-containment LNG storage tanks on a turn-key basis. The facility’s design will leverage a liquefaction system with 18 mid-scale modular trains driven by electric motors to achieve optimum efficiency and reliability.
Upon completion, Calcasieu Pass is likely to produce 10 million tonnes per annum (MTPA) of LNG. Construction on the project is scheduled to start in 2018.
CB&I executive vice president of fabrication services operating group Luke Scorsone said: “CB&I has an established track record of successfully executing LNG storage projects both in the U.S. Gulf Coast region and around the world.
“Our ability to deliver certainty of outcome provides Venture Global with a cost-effective, low-risk solution for the Calcasieu Pass facility.”
